Gray Skies

clouds cover this day
dim my view of everything
it's cold and I want to abandon this walk
for a cup of hot tea
I don't know what to think
of these gray skies
or of the hidden sun
I kick over these questions
looking for the answers
the ground is cold and still
just like the gray skies
I would go inside and hide
drink that tea and nap
or read a book
but sleep and diversion won't save me
from what I see and feel
under these gray skies
there are no birds flying about
no chatter of sparrows
beneath these clouds
I seem to walk around in shadows
gray skies, gray mind
remembering autumn
hoping for spring
gray skies cover this day
I fear I have inhaled the gray
and dimmed my view of everything
to hide under electric lights

it's time for that cup of tea

Ravens Dancing on the Wind

Ravens dancing on the wind,
feathers shining in the sun,
telling each other stories,
laughing at me on the ground.

Ghosts and Demons

1.

perhaps we honor our dead
by carrying their memories
and letting them speak to us
during restless nights

2.

the darkest demons
point to the top of the mountain
"Climb!" they tell me, "To glory!"
while piling stones upon me.

I wait
my time
on stage
I wait
practicing
my lines

define me
label me
tell me who I am
and what is best for me
as if you knew me

curtains and blankets

the clouds blanket the desert,
and draws curtains of showers...

to make a place sacred

be still,
quiet,
in awe,
grateful
to be there...

Sky Above, Earth Beneath...

It is easy to feel small,
So much sky above me,
So much earth beneath me;
As I stand on these feet,
and breath in this air.

Morning

I wake...
The rising sun,
Light shining into my home,
And into my soul.
My dark dreams
Recede into the shadows
Of an enlighten room.
Thus begins this glorious day,
Another day of life.
