I asked you who I am,
You showed me a tiny stone,
I held it,
looked at it in the sun
and in the water,
and wondered at all its color,
its smooth parts,
and its jagged, broken side.
I tried to polish it,
and returned it to thee,
hoping you would touch it,
and make it shine.
Lord,
that is what I am.
I see it,
and I believe
You see it too.
